Come funzionano le centralineHow the stations work

Da dove arrivano i datiWhere the data come from

Barcola: anemometer at Barcola harbour, Windguru data. A new reading every 1–5 minutes.
    • Trieste molo, Muggia e boa Paloma: rete meteorologica regionale. Trieste pier, Muggia and Paloma buoy: regional weather network. A reading every 15 minutes. Trieste pier is on the F.lli Bandiera pier, near the finish; the Paloma buoy is in the middle of the Gulf.
    • Monte Grisa: stazione Vetercek in quota sopra Barcola, ogni pochi minuti. Monte Grisa: Vetercek station high above Barcola, every few minutes. In Bora it reads earlier and stronger than at sea.
Mambo buoy (OGS), off Miramare castle: publishes one reading per hour, 1–2 hours late. It appears on the map only when its reading is up to date.

Come si leggeHow to read it

The big number is the estimated mean wind at the centre of the course, in knots; below it, where it comes from and the gusts.
On each line: mean wind-gust in knots (for example 12-16 kt). The arrow points where the wind blows to, the letters (ENE, SW…) say where it comes from.
Mean wind = the average over the station's measuring interval; gust = the strongest blow in the same interval. Trim the sails for the gusts.
    • Pallino verde: dato fresco. Yellow: a bit old, still used. Grey: offline or too old, left out of the calculations. A stale reading stays visible but faded, and the older it gets the more it blends into the background. Next to it, the time of the reading and how long ago.

It is the average of the live sea-level stations, weighted by distance: the closest counts most (weight 1/d²). The same calculation, at the midpoint of each leg, colours the course on the map.
Monte Grisa is left out of the average: it is high up and overstates the Bora compared with the sea.
No stale data: Barcola and Monte Grisa drop out after 20 minutes, the others after 30 (they stay visible, faded). The Mambo buoy, hourly and late, is usually out.

Ogni quanto si aggiornaHow often it updates

The page reloads every station every 5 minutes and whenever you come back to it; the Refresh button does it straight away. Each station has its own pace, though (see above): a station reporting every 15 minutes only changes every 15 minutes.

Each leg is coloured by the point of sail it will have: with the live wind, estimated leg by leg from the nearest stations, or (until Saturday 10 October) with Sunday's forecast, the mean of the weather models. Sotto, le andature dei 5 lati con quel vento; sotto l'anno il vincitore assoluto (albo d'oro del Bando di Regata 2026).Mean wind between 10:00 and 14:00 at the centre of the course, reconstructed by the ECMWF IFS model (analysis, via Open-Meteo): a reconstruction, not a measurement, and model gusts tend to run high. Below, the points of sail of the 5 legs with that wind; under the year, the overall winner (roll of honour from the 2026 Notice of Race).
